The Microbiology Department (MICRO) has a new chair, Dr. Shabaana Khader. MICRO will occupy floors 06 & 07 of CLSC. Both floors will be renovated as a part of this project. MICRO requires a BSL3 Lab on both floors. The 7th floor has an existing BSL3 Lab. A new BSL3 Lab will be added to the 6th floor as a part of this project. The existing AHU (ACS-3) serving both floors require replacement and is in the basement of CLSC.
Dr. Khader’s team is currently functioning within temporary lab space (provided in phase #1) that is not ideal for long term use. For this reason, project timeline is important to avoid disrupting the department’s research.
This will be the 2nd Phase of the Microbiology Project. Floor 06 will be considered Phase 2A and floor 07 will be Phase 2B. Renovations will take place in that order. The department will relocate from floor 07 to floor 06 between phases.
